A conservatory that is built for a home should be a relaxing and pleasant place to live. The time that most homeowners expect to get most from their sunroom is during those long, hot summer days when all of the family can lounge in the sunroom and have easy access to the garden.
This should be the situation but what sometimes happens is that conservatories can become very hot and uncomfortable during the hotter parts of the day and humans find themselves having to retreat to the shelter and shade of the main residence.
This is a very unfortunate situation for property owners to find themselves in. Having spent a lot of money on a sunroom, you would expect to be able to make full use of it. While newly constructed conservatories have been able to make the most of modern production technology and have specialised glazing installed, older conservatories that were constructed before these types of glazing were commonly available on the market have difficulties.
Some owners of these structures try to deflect the heat from the conservatory by fitting window and roof blinds. These blinds can be quite effective at deflecting glare and in controlling the light from entering the sunroom. Unfortunately by the time the sun’s rays strike an internal blind they are already in the conservatory and the heat will build up behind the blinds and enter into the room. There are more modern external blind options available, but these are not as commonly used.
One quite useful solution to the problem is the insertion of conservatory roof inserts into polycarbonate roofing. These inserts are also called solar inserts and are not terribly expensive so they are a good value option. These inserts are only available for polycarbonate roofs as glass roofs have not the capacity to hold them.
Another useful alternative is to place a conservatory roof film on the inside of the glazing. This is a film of reflective material that is clear and see-through, so it allows you to stop the entry of rays in to the conservatory, without stopping the view from the conservatory roof or side panels. Another advantage of this product is that it does not cost a huge amount of money, so all round it appears to be a good option.
If you find yourself in a position that your conservatory is uncomfortable in the summer due to excessive heat, consider the options of conservatory roof inserts, roof film and the installation of specialised curtains and blinds. It is quite possible that one or even a combination of these proposed solutions will help to cool down your sunroom. lightweight conservatory roof replacement
